CADMOS HPC Course 2017

Date: 12th to 14th of July 2017.

Location: Château-d'Oex.

The CADMOS HPC Course 2017 provides an introduction to computational science to any scientist interested in acquiring some skills in this field for their research. In the relaxed atmosphere of Château-d’Oex, the participants will learn the basics of high performance computing through theory and practice, and explore the possibilities of computational science.

Scientific and social exchange, and the creation of links between researchers with related interests, is another important goal. A tasting event for local products from Gruyères (wine and cheese) will be organized on the second day, coached by an expert who will provide additional information and context for the products. You will be able to learn more about this part of Switzerland, and spend some good time with future colleagues.

The CADMOS HPC Course 2017 is provided as a service to scientists of the Universities of Geneva and Lausanne and the EPFL. Teaching, board, and lodging are paid by CADMOS.

Dates and Location

The event takes place in Hôtel Roc&Neige in Château-d’Oex from the 12th to the 14th of July 2017. On Wednesday 12th, the event starts at 10:00 am to leave enough time for the participants to arrive.

The event is organized by CADMOS (, represented by Jonas Latt and Jean-Luc Falcone (organizers for Unige) and Vincent Keller (organizer for EPFL and Unil).

The event hosts up to 20 participants, which will be accommodated in single rooms. The event is open to any interested researcher from the Universities of Lausanne and Geneva and from the EPFL.

HPC theory and pratice

There will be an introduction to HPC and to parallel programming with MPI, combined with
practice sessions. Participants should bring a laptop; more detailed information will be provided
shortly before the event.

For UNIL/UNIGE/EPFL participants there is no registration fee, and the cost of accommodation (two nights) is entirely covered by CADMOS.

To register, please send an e-mail to Jonas Latt, Cette adresse e-mail est protégée contre les robots spammeurs. Vous devez activer le JavaScript pour la visualiser., with the following information:

- Name

- Affiliation

- A short description (max. 3 sentences) of the reasons of your interest in computational science and/or high performance computing

You will receive a confirmation of your registration within a few days after registering.
